Equipment tracking, so two events never book the same chafer

Chafers, urns, linen, trestles and the van. What you own, what you hire, and which event has it on Saturday — in the same place as the events themselves.

The double-booking problem

Food is the thing caterers track. Equipment is the thing that ruins the day. Two events on the same Saturday, one set of chafing dishes, and nobody notices until the van is loaded.

Equipment is a scheduling problem rather than a stock problem: it is not consumed, it is out and then it comes back.

What it holds

  • Owned items, with condition and where they live.
  • Hired items, with the vendor and what they cost.
  • Bookings against events, so an item that is out on the 18th shows as out on the 18th.
  • Return dates, so the thing that went out on a Friday is accounted for on the Monday.

What it will not do

It will not reorder for you, and it will not predict what you need. It tells you what you have and where it is, which is the part that actually goes wrong.

Questions people ask

Does it cover hired equipment as well as what I own?

Yes. Hired items are tracked with their vendor and cost, alongside the items you own, so the picture for an event is complete.

Will it stop me double-booking?

It shows you what is already booked out for that date against another event, so the clash is visible before the van is loaded.
